S0ftpj

SØftPrØject (often shortened as "sØftpj" or "spj") is a hacking group located in Italy.

Name

The "Ø" in the name represents a zero, recalling the slashed zeroes often used since the introduction of computers to distinguish between numeric zero and the capital letter "O", so the group's normal on-line name (including it's domain name) is "s0ftpj" (with a zero).

History

The group has been active since 1997. SØftPrØject is a non-profit organization aiming to research, study and resolve problems related to systems and communications security in the digital world. The sØftpj research team develops tools oriented to improve security and respect users' privacy, publishes documents describing new vulnerabilities and points out possible security solutions. The aperiodic electronic publication (e-zine) Butchered From Inside was created to publish articles describing security issues and innovative thinking on the networked world.

Members

The member list of SØftPrØject is not public anymore, due to a collective decision of the group.
