The Rt Rev Robin Jonathan Norman Smith was the Bishop of Hertford from 1990 until 2001 [”Debrett's People of Today 1992” (London, Debrett's) ISBN 1870520092)] . He was born on 14 August 1936 [ [http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/n/i/c/Timothy-Charles-Nicholas/COL0001-0022.html Family tree] ] and educated at Bedford School and Worcester College, Oxford [”Who's Who 1992 “(London, A & C Black ISBN 0713635142)] before embarking on an ecclesiastical career with a curacy at St Margaret's, Barking [ [http://www.saintmargarets.org.uk/ Church eb site] ] after which he was Chaplain of Lee Abbey then Vicar of "Chesham St Mary". Following this he was Rector of "Great Chesham" [“Crockford's clerical directory, 1995” (Lambeth,Church House ISBN 0715180886)] before elevation to the Episcopate. In retirement he continues to serve the Church as an Assistant Bishop within the Diocese of St Albans.
