Bosnia and Herzegovina debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993, and has competed every year since except 1998 and 2000, when low average scores forced Bosnia and Herzegovina to skip the contest.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's best result was in 2006, when Hari Mata Hari came 3rd with the song "Lejla". However Bosnia and Herzegovina had previously participated at Eurovision between 1961 and 1991 as Yugoslavia. Artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina had also competed to represent the Yugoslavia at Eurovision in 1992 (see Yugoslavia in the Eurovision Song Contest 1992 for more details).
