Pat Devlin is a quarterback for the Penn State Nittany Lions. He is currently listed as the second-string quarterback behind Daryll Clark, but has already seen significant playing time in the early part of the 2008 season. Devlin is a Downingtown, PA native standing 6'4" and weighing 222 pounds. Devlin was recruited to play for PSU out of Downingtown East High School. Having set the Pennsylvania high school career passing yards record, with 8,162 career yards, Devlin was a highly touted recruit.

Sophmore Season 2007

After redshirting the 2006 season, Devlin appeared as the third string quarterback behindAnthony Morelli and second sting quarterback Daryll Clark. Devlin saw action in games against Florida International, Wisconsin, and Temple, but accumulated few statistics. With Morelli's struggles, many Nittany Lion faithful were calling for Devlin to play and gain experience. This didn't happen in the 2007 season, but things were beginning to change with the end of the Morelli era.

Junior Season 2008

In the weeks leading up to the start of the 2008 season, controversy swirled around the starting quarterback position for the Penn State team. Daryll Clark, the more experienced and agile quarterback was being weighed against the younger, more prolific passing threat in Devlin. In the end, Penn State coach Joe Paterno chose to start Daryll Clark while having him split as much time with Devlin as would be possible [http://www.altoonamirror.com/page/content.detail/id/510388.html?nav=742] . The first four games of the 2008 season would give Paterno more than a few chances to hand the keys of the Penn State offense to his young back-up. In games against Coastal Carolina, Oregon State, Syracuse, and Temple, Devlin put up 260 passing yards with 18 completions off of 35 attempts [http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=188680] .
