Broadgreen ,Liverpool ,England , is a large hospital. It is part of theRoyal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital NHS Trust s. Situated on the outskirts of the city the hospital was first established as a centre for the treatment oftuberculosis . However, following the bombing of the city centre hospitals duringWorld War II , Broadgreen was expanded into a significant District General Hospital.According the to
NHS Trust website, Broadgreen Hospital has 338 beds. It is the main base for the department of medicine for the elderly and rehabilitation, fordermatology , and for routineorthopaedic and general surgery. There is also a renal dialysis unit on the site.In January 1996 a new eighty bedded Elderly Rehabilitation Unit was opened at Broadgreen.
Bill Shankly , the former Liverpool Football Club manager, died at the hospital in September 1981 after suffering a heart attack.External links
