It is part of the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital NHS Trust and is associated with the University of Liverpool. The building was constructed between 1966 and 1978 on a site opposite the old Liverpool Royal Infirmary. The Hospital was Officially opened by HRH Princess Alexandra of Kent.
