Josip Jurčič

Josip Jurčič (March 4, 1844 - May 3, 1881) was a Slovene writer and journalist, born in Muljava (near Ivančna Gorica, Slovenia) and died in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

He is one of most important Slovene writers in realistic literary. His writing has affected various writers and folk literature. He also followed Levstik's literary program.

13 km long "Jurčič path", that goes from Višnja Gora, place where he visited school, to Muljava, is named after him. The house where he was born is now an open air museum.
