- John Hopere Wharewiti Uru
John Hopere Wharewiti Uru (1868 – 29 November 1921) was a Māori of Ngai Tahu and an Independent Member of Parliament in New Zealand.
He won the Southern Māori seat in the 1919 general election when he defeated Taare Parata, and held it to 1921, when he died. He was succeeded by his brother Henare Uru.
