La Marina

La Marina

La Marina is a coastal village in Elche, Alicante on the Costa Blanca. The languages spoken are Spanish (Castillian) and Catalan. It has two communal swimming pools, the satellite and hillside as well as a sandy beach and several bars and places to eat. It consists of a village and an urbanisation about 2 km inland. These are linked by a long windy road, difficult to walk down and about 10 Euros in a local taxi. Once in the village access to local towns is easy and very cheap by bus service to Alicante, Benidorm, Elche, Torrevieja and Cartagena. There's a local market as in most Spanish towns, these are on Thursdays and Sundays. The inhabitants are mainly natives, English ex-pats, German, and Dutch nationals.
