The bus service in
Prague is provided by several transport operators, chiefly by Dopravní podnik Hlavního města Prahy, a.s. ("Prague transport company, plc.").Buses today
The buses are fulfilling many different roles in the Prague's public transport, but mostly, they serve as connections between the metro and large housing estates. There are also plans to gradually introduce trunk services, similar to
bus rapid transit systems in Latin America.Line numbering

* 300-399 : Daytime suburban buses
* 400-499 : Daytime regional (not going into the city proper) buses
* 500-549 : Nighttime metropolitan buses
* 550-599 : School buses
* 600-607 : Nighttime suburban buses
* 700-799 : Special buses (transport to trade fairs, football matches etc.)History
The first buses in Prague were experimentally operated in 1908 in the
Malá Strana district, but due to unreliable technology at the time it was declared failure after 20 months. Regular service was started on 20th June 1925 and is in operation continuoulsy since.
