Adaptations
In 1943, the novel was adapted to the
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer feature film "Lassie Come Home " starringRoddy McDowall as the boy Joe Carraclough and Pal as Lassie. The success of the film led to several sequel films and finally to a long running television series (called simply, "Lassie") that debuted in 1954 and cemented Lassie's iconic status. The films and television series still see broadcasts worldwide and are available in VHS and DVD formats.
