August 28 ,1951 inHouston, Texas ) was aMajor League Baseball player for theCincinnati Reds ,St. Louis Cardinals ,New York Mets ,Montreal Expos , andSan Francisco Giants from 1976 to 1989. Youngblood was a versatile player, who could play many different positions, as well aspinch hit . He was voted to be on theNational League All-Star team in1981 while with the Mets. In that strike-shortened season, Youngblood hit .350 in 143 at-bats.On
August 4 , 1982, Youngblood became the first and only player in history to get hits for two different teams in two different cities on the same day. Youngblood had driven in the winning run for the Mets in an afternoon game atWrigley Field against theChicago Cubs , and then singled in a night game for theMontreal Expos inPhiladelphia after he had been traded. Interestingly, the two pitchers he hit safely against,Ferguson Jenkins of the Cubs andSteve Carlton of thePhiladelphia Phillies , are both in theBaseball Hall of Fame .For his career, Youngblood hit .265, with 80
