Entrance of the Gladiators is a radio drama written by Kyle Mew and broadcast on Resonance FM on February 15 2008. It was performed live by Sarah Pemberton, Jasmina Rahman, Peter Savizon and Jason Hain (with a cameo appearance from the author) and went out at 11:30 pm as part of the Mining for Gold program.
The story consists of four interwoven monologues centring around the fictional character of Osgood Hardbach, the world record holder for attempted suicides. Three of the characters know the protagonist, who does not appear in the play, the fourth is an unexplained voice that acts as a foil to the others' madness.
Despite the subject matter and comedic style, the work has a strong anti-suicide message.
In September 2008 the author made an edited version of the original broadcast available on You Tube and Facebook.
The material would be considered shocking to many and not suitable for children as it contains very strong language, extreme violence and other adult themes.
