* The 1066 Norman conquest of England under William the Conqueror.
* The 1216 invasion of England by Louis VIII of France, during the First Barons' War.
* The 1386 invasion by France was organized but not executed during the Hundred Years War.
* The 1588 Spanish Armada was a failed invasion of England after it was heavily defeated by the English fleet.
* The 1688/1689 conquest of England by the Dutch Republic, also known as the Glorious Revolution.
* The 1778 - 1783 never executed Franco-Spanish plans to invade Great Britain during the American War of Independence
* The 1797 French expedition to Wales that was extremely unsuccessful.
* The 1803 - 1805 planned but never executed Napoleonic invasion of England.
* The 1940 partially planned but never executed German Invasion of England, better known as Operation Seelöwe.
