The Royal Swedish Navy Youth Band, RSwNYB

The Royal Swedish Navy Youth Band, RSwNYB is a project that was created in 2002 in cooperation with The Swedish Armed Forces Musiccentre and the Royal Swedish Navy Band.

Now the RSwNYB has been active for several years and established itself as an acknowledged Band with high musical quality and talent. The band has earned appreciation from authoritys within the windband-community, in Sweden as well as abroad.

The Band is run as an association with no profit goals. A board is in charge and consists of top musical and management competency, as well as of youths from the band. We work after a musical and pedagogic program created by the Musicaldirector of the Royal Swedish Navy Band, lt. com. Andreas Hanson.

The band works close together with the Armed Forces Musiccentre and the Royal Swedish Navy Band to secure musical and pedagogic quality. Close contacts with municipal and private music- and cultureschools are common.

The RSwNYB consists of about 55 young musicians in the ages from 13 to 22 years. The band has its base in Karlskrona in the south-east of Sweden, but the bandmembers come from all southern parts of Sweden. The band rehearse one weekend a month in connection to a big event, such as a concert or a Tattoo.

The primary goals for the RSwNYB are to:

– create an opportunity for youths between 13 and 23 years to develop their musical skills to a higher level than they can achive only within the munincipal and other music- and cultureschools. What we can offer formost is bandplaying-experience and performance-experience.

– safeguard and develop the Swedish militarymusic in general and the Swedish navalmusic in particular. We achieve this by bringing the Shipsboycorps Bands tradition in to the future, with traditions from 1685.

– be a recrutingbase for the three conscriptbands in Sweden, The Central Band of the Swedish Army, The Army Drumcorps, and the Lifeguards mounted dragooncorps. As well as for the Homeguard Bands and other windbands in the region.

RSwNYB preformes musicmarches, Parades, Tattoos and different forms of concerts both indoors and outdoors. Almost everyone has the opportunity to engage the band. If you whant to engage the RSwNYB, please contact us at info@muk.se, for further discusions.

Welcome!
