Overcrowding of the Stratford High School and expected population growth for the trianglular region formed by Summerville, Goose Creek and Monks Corner prompted school officials to build Cane Bay HS. Cane Bay Plantation, the Parks at Berkeley (both in Summerville) and Carnes Crossroads (in Goose Creek) are all plantations being developed in the vicinity. The school opened in August of
