Brian Pulido

Brian Pulido (born November 30, 1961 ["Comics Buyers Guide" #1636 (December 2007); Page 135] ) is a creator, writer and producer of comic books and films. He lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife Francisca.

Education

Pulido is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts Motion Picture and Television Department. He is also a member of the board of directors for A Commitment to Our Roots (or ACTOR), a non-profit foundation formed to aid retired members of the comic book community in financial need.

Comic book career

Pulido has created, written or co-written over 260 comic books, including: Lady Death, Evil Ernie, Purgatori, Chastity, Smiley The Psychotic Button,Cremator,Bad Kitty, Jade, Lady Demon, Bedlam and The Undead. He has written or published stories for World Wrestling Entertainment, Universal’s The Mummy, Halloween, Megadeth and Insane Clown Posse. His stories have been published by Marvel Comics and Dark Horse Comics, among others.

Pulido’s current comics work includes all new stories based on New Line Cinema’s "A Nightmare on Elm Street", "Friday the 13th" and "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" from Avatar Press, as well as the monthly Lady Death and Medieval Lady Death, a Wizard book of the month. With Avatar Press, he launched all new supernatural creations Belladonna, Gypsy, War Angel, Killer Gnomes and Unholy.

As the president of Chaos! Comics, Pulido was a leading independent comic publisher of the 1990s, achieving over thirty million dollars in sales in eight languages, until the company went bankrupt. As creative director, Pulido won twelve international printing awards and oversaw over 500 licensed items including posters, prints, sculptures, action figures, apparel, trading cards and drinkware.

In 1999, he received the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund’s Defender of Liberty Award for his fundraising efforts.

Film career

On the motion picture front, Pulido created, produced and wrote the story for ADV Films’ animated feature, "Lady Death". He wrote, produced and directed the award winning short horror film, "There’s Something Out There", which has played at numerous film festivals. He is currently writing "Gone", a feature length screenplay with "New York Times" best-selling author Michael A. Stackpole.

In 2005, Pulido co-founded International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival and is its director.
