"Fish Hooky" is a 1933 "Our Gang" short comedy film directed by Robert F. McGowan. cite web |url=http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/64185/Fish-Hooky/overview |title=New York Times: Fish Hooky |accessdate=2008-09-19|work=NY Times] It was the 120th (32nd talking episode) "Our Gang" short that was released.

Plot

Wheezer, Dickie, Uh huh, and Stymie choose to play hooky from school again and are fishing with Joe & Farina. Meawhile, Miss Kornman is taking her students to the beach and amusement pier free of charge. Spanky and Cotton hand notes forged by Dickie, Stymie, Wheezer by Joe & Farina to Miss Kornman stating why they were absent. Spanky tells the teacher the notes are phony. Mickey the truant officer decides to teach the boys a lesson. Miss Kornman hands a note back to the boys telling they that she is taking the kids to the beach and pier. They run back to the school and miss the bus to the beach.

The truant officer then lectures the boys (not letting them kids know who he is) that playing hooky from school lands kids in reform school (where they eat Spinach instead of bread and water on Saturdays and receive a new sledgehammer every Christmas. They use the hammer on rockpiles every day to break great big rocks into little bitsy ones). The boys then ask the officer to give them a ride to the beach to see Miss Kornman for school. He takes them there and as they arrive, Stymie spots the truant officer badge and the boys run away from them. Miss Kornman sees them but pretends not to know them. The four boys spend the next couple hours running from the truant officer throughout the park not getting on even one ride. The officer purposely makes the chase long but eventually catches all the boys. They beg Miss Kornman to stop Mr. Daniels the truant officer from locking the boys in a reform school. She does after the boys promise to never play hooky again. The boys run off to presumably get on some rides.

This marks cameo appearances of former Our Gangers Allen Hoskins (Farina), Joe Cobb, Mary Kornman (as the teacher), and Mickey Daniels (as the truant officer). Its also recurring character Donald Haines' last Our gang appearance. The film is shot at the schoolhouse that the Miss Crabtree episodes were filmed at and at the former Santa Monica amusement pier and beach.
