Ranjit sagar dam project

Ranjit Sagar Dam Project [Official site] [Main site] is a Hydroelectric Project constructed jointly by Government of Punjab on river Ravi in the state of Punjab. The other name of the project is Thein Dam [PG] . The Project is situated near Pathankot city in the Gurdaspur District of the state of Punjab. The project is the biggest Hydroelectric Project in the state of Punjab. The township of the site is called Shah pur Kandi Township [Township] .

The project is used for both irrigation purposes and for the generation of power(4x150MW). The Dam is one of the highest Earth Fill Dam of India and is having the biggest Pen Stock pipes in a Hydel Project [Project Briefs] [India Portal] [CWC India] .
