- Uwe Meierhenrich
Uwe Meierhenrich (* 23 October
1967 inDetmold ) is a German Physico-Chemist. He is professor for Analytical andPhysical Chemistry and teaches at theUniversity of Nice Sophia Antipolis inFrance .Academic Life
Meierhenrich arose in a family of teachers and professors. He studied
chemistry at thePhilipps-University Marburg and obtained a Ph.D. degree inPhysical Chemistry at theUniversity of Bremen by Thiemann. Meierhenrich became Post-doc at theMax Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Katlenburg-Lindau and at the FrenchSynchrotron CenterLURE . In 2003 Meierhenrich obtained the habilitation with the academic publication "The Origin of Biomolecular Asymmetry" at theUniversity of Bremen . In 2005 he became professor at theUniversity of Nice Sophia Antipolis inFrance .Academic Achievements
Meierhenrichs name is connected with the identification of
amino acids inspace . In preparation of the cometary Rosetta-Mission ofESA the so-called interstellar ice was simulated in the laboratory, in which 16amino acids were identified. Further experiments at the FrenchSoleil (synchrotron) let assume thatlife 'shomochirality also originated underinterstellar conditions.Publications
