Abu Talib (musician)

Abu Talib, born Fred Leroy Robinson (24 February 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee) and - until in 1978 changing his name to 'Abu Talib' - known as Freddy Robinson, is an African American blues and jazz guitarist, singer, and harmonica player.

He is best known for his work with musicians as diverse as Little Walter, Howlin Wolf and Jimmy Rogers (in the 1950s/60s), Jazz Crusaders, Monk Higgins, Blue Mitchell, Stanley Turrentine and John Mayall (in the 1970s), and Bobby Bland (1980s). Besides his studio and touring work with others he has recorded quite a few records of his own and across the decades proved a versatile artist in both the blues and the jazz field.
