"People Hold On" is the title of a song performed by the British singer Lisa Stansfield. Stansfield co-wrote the track in the late 1980s with the members of the dance music outfit known as Coldcut, Jonathan More and Matt Black.

1989 version

Coldcut had established themselves within the acid house movement in the UK, scoring a dance hit in 1988 with "Doctorin' the House". A collaboration between More, Black and Stansfield in 1989 yielded the single "People Hold On", which reached #11 on the UK Singles Chart [ [http://www.chartstats.com/songinfo.php?id=16259 1989 version UK chart info at chartstats.com] ] and #6 on the US "Billboard" dance chart.Whitburn, Joel (2004). "Hot Dance/Disco 1974-2003", (Record Research Inc.)] The song was credited to "Coldcut featuring Lisa Stansfield".

1997 version

Stansfield released her self-titled studio album in 1997. A bonus track on the CD was an updated version of "People Hold On" that was listed as the "Bootleg Mix" in the US. This remix was done by "The Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", music producers and DJs Dan Bewick and Matt Frost. When released as a single, this version of the song charted higher than the original, rising to #4 on the UK Singles Chart [ [http://www.chartstats.com/songinfo.php?id=24833 1997 version UK chart info at chartstats.com] ] and spending one week atop the "Billboard" dance chart in April 1997.
