George Andrew Plescia (pronounced "plesha") (born
August 19 1966 ) is a U.S. Republican politician fromCalifornia .Born in
Sacramento, California , Plescia graduated fromCalifornia State University, Sacramento .Plescia began working as an unpaid intern for former State Senator Bill Morrow in his district office and eventually became a paid staff member.
Plescia was first elected in 2002 to represent the 75th Assembly District, which covers parts of northern
San Diego County, California . Plescia has sponsored bills concerning transportation, child pornography, and cutting income taxes. His office lead the fight to prevent the relocation ofSan Diego International Airport to theMarine Corps Air Station Miramar .While in the legislature, he developed a reputation of being very personable and well-liked by both Republicans and Democrats. For part of 2006, he was the
California State Assembly Republican Leader.Plescia and his wife Melissa Dollaghan live in San Diego. He enjoys playing basketball and is a sports fan.
