Nanda Kishor Pun (Nepali: नन्दकिशोर पुन), alias Pasang, is the chief commander of the People's Liberation Army in Nepal. He is also a member of Central Committee of UCPN (M).[1]
Pun was born in Rangsi, in northwestern Rolpa district. He became involved in radical student politics and became a district committee member of Communist Party of Nepal (Unity Centre). In 1990 he became district president of the youth wing of the party. When the party was divided in 1994, Pun sided with the wing that would become the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist). His youth organization was converted into a militia, that took part in the launching of People's War in February 1996. After the PLA was formed in 2001 he became commander of the first PLA battalion. Eventually he would become one of four deputy commanders of the PLA. During the war he led PLA forces in several battles.[2]
On September 12, 2008, Pasang was appointed chief of the PLA by the CPN(Maoist).[3]
