newsletter ) produced inSilver Spring, MD byCD Publications ."SDR" reports on public and private sources of funding for substance abuse treatment/prevention and disability programs. It also covers activities of the
United States and federal or state agencies.History
CD Publications began publishing housing-related
newsletters in 1961, starting with "Housing Affairs Letter ". The company branched out into senior affairs with "Aging News Alert " in 1984, and into grant-seeking with "Federal Assistance Monitor" in 1986. "Substance Abuse Funding News" was added in 1992 and "Disability Funding News" began publication in 1993.In January 2007, "DFN" and "SAF" were converted to online-only publications in an attempt to lower costs and save them from cancellation. However, by mid-year, "DFN" had been folded into "SAF" to create "Substance Abuse & Disability Services Report".
Current coverage
"SDR" posts federal, corporate and foundation grant notices for programs focused on alcohol/tobacco/drug abuse and people with physical challenges and/or mental health issues, including suicide prevention. There also is coverage of veterans affairs, legislative and legal developments, and advocacy group activities, plus commentary from grant officials and fundraising consultants related to applications.
Expansion
In 2007, CD Publications' other funding news services were changed to a web-based format and moved, along with "SDR", onto the web portal GrantsandFunding.net.
