The episode featured astory within a story by introducing "Busted by Bill" - a show similar in format to that ofCheaters . It also features the addition and subsequent removal of another of Brennan's assistants this season, now totaling two individuals.ummary
The episode opens with a truck driver travelling on a seemingly deserted dirt road speaking to his significant other on the phone. He explains that he needs to make a stop to use the restroom and then hangs up the phone with her still loudly objecting. He exits his truck and enters the outhouse located about 50 feet away, where he lights a cigarette. This results in an explosion which destroys the outhouse and plants the driver about half-way between his truck and the outhouse with his underwear and pants on fire.
In the next scene, Booth arrives at Dr. Brennan's apartment to give her details on the case. He is greeted by a very disshelved Brennan wearing a robe. Then, from the direction of her bedroom comes Mark Gaffney, a very physically fit guy wearing only a towel. Booth is obviously humored by Mark's presence combined with Brennan's uncollected thoughts.
On their way to the scene, they discuss being in committed relationships and how physical attraction can be just that.
After arriving back at the Jeffersonian with the body and canisters of sewage pumped from the outhouse, their investigation begins. Angela is able to quickly identify the victim as Bill O'Rourke, a star of a show entitled "Busted by Bill" which exposes cheating spouses by enticing them into a compromising situation with a very attractive female, Holly Markwell. They quickly assume that the murder must have been a result of Bill's precarious job position.
As their physical research begins, a new assistant to Dr. Brennan is introduced - Daisy Wick. It is evident within the first few minutes that Daisy is a very high-strung individual intent on making herself known to Dr. Brennan. She is quick to note that she idolizes Dr. Brennan and compares herself to her as well. However, it is also obvious that she is very annoying to Dr. Hodgins, who ends up giving her an order to sort through 6 barrels of sewage in order to locate a hairpiece.
During the investigation of the body, a photograph is located in the victim's throat. Throughout the episode, Angela's recognition software clears the image for use as evidence in the investigation.
Dr. Sweets then suggests that Booth, Brennan, and himself view the hours of "Busted by Bill" footage in order to profile potential suspects. Brennan notes that she will not be able to attend because she has another date, however this time it is with Jason DeFry, a botanist. Brennan states that she is with Jason for the intellectual stimulation and with Mark for the physical stimulation. Booth argues that monogamy is what sets the human race apart from all others, yet Brennan refutes this with a scientific explanation about physical attraction and statistics about infidelity.
After Sweets and Booth profile a potential suspect, they travel to the diner where Brennan and her date, Jason, are enjoying dinner. Like in the beginning of the episode, Brennan is very thrown-off by Booth's presence and of course her date, Jason, is a bit embarrassed to have his evening ruined. Brennan ends up leaving to locate their new suspect.
Because they are unable to locate him, Booth enlists the assistance of a stalker and offers him $50 for information. The stalker later gives Booth the inforamation he needs, but the lead provides no credible outcome.
After investigating the workings of the "Busted by Bill" show, it's learned that Bill was unhappy with his position and even threatened to resign his position as host, which obviously would have devastated the cast and crew. Booth and Brennan then learn that the woman in the above mentioned photograph is identified as Holly. She is questioned, but again, no credible lead is gained.
After returning to the Jeffersonian, more details are gained about the inter-office relationships of the cast of "Busted by Bill" at which point Brennan suspects the cameraman because of his relationship with Holly. She notes that the motive is out of love for her as she was sleeping with Bill.
As they depart to bring the cameraman, Pete Steckel, Brennan is confronted by Mark, whom she had plans with for dinner. A short time later Jason arrives as she had double-booked plans with him to attend a
Coldplay concert. However, because she must accompany Booth for questioning of Pete, she is forced to cancel plans with both gentlemen. In the interrogation room, Pete quickly admits to his crime and gives his motive.
As the episode closes, Booth and Brennan enter Dr. Sweets's office for their meeting. Sweets questions their sexual tension and why they are unable to open up about certain personal issues, to which Booth and Brennan then leave. Sweets notes that he wants to accompany them as they go for Chinese food, however they decline his offer. Feeling lonely, Sweets contacts Daisy, who is then noted as being terminated from Brennan's crew. They strike up a conversation about themselves, which seemingly will lead to future romantic ventures and the return of Daisy in the future. [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1248444/synopsis]
