Military Hospital Rawalpindi ''''MH'''' , is fgfgf a customer friendly hospital of the Pakistan Armed Forces.dfdf Before independence it was called Indian Military Hospital Rawalpindi. It is one of the largest hospitals in the country with indoor facility for more than 2000 patients.Its commandant / CEO is a serving Maj General (Amjad Faheem) of AMC. It has one Deputy Commandant of the rank of a Brigadier and two Assistant Commandants (Administrators) of the Rank of Colonel. (Col Arshad Javed Cheema and Col Athar) Its Family wing is looked after by a Lady MO of the rank of a Brigadier. It is affiliated hospital of Army Medical College and Armed Forces Post Graduate Medical Institute Rawalpindi.It is also a teaching institution for Nurses and paramedics. The Military Hospital Rawalpindi, established in 1857, has 1200 beds for in-patient treatment. The hospital comprises Three Medical Units, Departments of Surgery,Ophthalmology,Family Medicine and GPs, Dermatology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Radiology and Department of Intensive Care Units. The bed occupancy rate is about 95 percent. The General Medical Council of the UK recognizes the hospital for postgraduate training in various disciplines. The hospital looks after a variety of patients and the medical students of this College are imparted practical clinical training by the concerned specialists and the professors.The Hospital also provides tertiary care facilities. It is also recognised for Post graduate Training by College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. This hospital has also state of the Art HMIS. Due to heavy burden of increasing patients mostly entitled and their dependents (armed forces) and the lack of appropriate facilities and nursing / paramedical staff, this hospital is losing popularity among patients. The doctors are under extreme pressure due to heavy work load. Estimated outdoor patient load is 4,000 to 4,500 daily. They cannot do justice to their patients. This hospital needs a major reform, With the efforts of the current administration , it is hoped / expected that this Hospital will once again come to the number 1 position of the country as it was before.
