"Silver" Donald Cameron is a Canadian writer of books and scripts for television and radio. He has also written columns for newspapers, including "
The Globe and Mail ", and articles for magazines.He was born Donald Cameron in
Toronto in 1937 but grew up inVancouver . He received an M.A. from theUniversity of California, Berkeley and a PhD from theUniversity of London . He has taught atDalhousie University , theUniversity of British Columbia and theUniversity of New Brunswick .From 1994 to 1997, he was dean of Community Studies at University College of Cape Breton (now
Cape Breton University ). He has taken on an active role in helping to foster economic development in theIsle Madame region of Cape Breton where he has lived since 1971.He is the author of numerous books, including:
