Rotating thunderstorm

Rotating thunderstorm

A rotating thunderstorm is a type of thunderstorm that often spawns tornadoes, creates damaging winds and hail.

Rotation

They rotate in a counterclockwise direction in the northern hemisphere, and a clockwise direction in the southern hemisphere. This is caused by the earth's rotation, the same force that causes rotation in tropical cyclones.
