- Jeremy Hummel
Jeremy Hummel (born December 8, 1974) is the former
drummer and co-founder of the metal bandBreaking Benjamin . Jeremy co-wrote and recorded their debut CD, "Saturate" as well as the platinum selling follow-up, "We Are Not Alone."In September 2004, after the recording of We Are Not Alone, while taking a short break from a year of touring for the birth of his first child, Hummel was relieved of his duties in the band. Ben Burnley actually called Hummel the same day he brought his baby home from the hospital to tell him he was being "replaced". Subsequently, on September 28, 2005, he filed a federal lawsuit against the remaining members of Breaking Benjamin, as well as its management, claiming he was not paid for songs he helped write. His lawsuit asks for an undisclosed amount of money. Details have been released stating that the band and Hummel have reached a settlement. Some listeners say references to this are made in "Had Enough" on Breaking Benjamins album Phobia, this has never been confirmed by
Breaking Benjamin Jeremy continues his career as an independent artist, doing studio work, instructing, and writing for Modern Drummer magazine. Jeremy is writing and playing with Harrisburg, Pennsylvania rock group,
Until We Rise , and just released their debut EP. Hummel is also a member of the Ambient/Acid-Jazz band Electric Volcano Experiment with guitarist Alex Callenberger and bassist Andy Seal. He also performs with various artists including Bret Alexander of Saturation Acres. Jeremy and Bret are also currently co-producing "Evolution of Sound", the first EP by Harrisburg, PA based band Drop of Grey.
