Daniel Anscombe (born August 20th 1986) is a production designer for feature films. He is based in the UK, and often works with film producer Gene Fallaize.

Biography

Early Life

Anscombe was born in Nottingham, and lived in Calverton until he was 13, when he moved nearer to Lincoln and attended Robert Pattinson School. He had always shown a passion for art and graphic design at school, and went on to study them at Sixth Form before going to university.

Film Production

Studying for a BA in Contemporary Lens Media at the University of Lincoln, Anscombe specialised in moving image, and achieved upper second class honours in 2008. Whilst still at university in early 2007, he started pre-production on an innovative and grisly horror project with fellow student Jamie Rae, which would eventually become '8ight Limbs'. Through this project, which was only recently completed in June 2008, he built up a strong friendship and working relationship with Rae, leading to their plans to work together frequently on future productions. Outside of university, he also worked alongside Rae on the Cupsogue Pictures feature film ‘Monkeyshine’, where Anscombe had the role of director of photography.
Anscombe is also affiliated with the New York Film Academy, through motion picture production company Cupsogue Pictures, where he is contracted as a Director For Hire.
In 2006, he started his own production label, called Big Damn Hero Films, to attach to his short and feature films. This will soon make the leap from a label, to a full production company.
Anscombe is currently working as production designer on horror feature 'The Summoning' (2009), directed by Stephen Hudis, and 'Kanashibari'; a suspense filled Japanese horror which he is also writing, and which will be co-written and directed by Jamie Rae.

New Hollywood

In 2008, he was picked up by Gene Fallaize to work as production designer on many of his productions. Fallaize penned the 'New Hollywood' idea of progressing fresh talent within the business, and Anscombe was exactly that; fresh talent, that had the drive to go places. As a result, Anscombe has been slated to design five of Cupsogue Pictures' productions
