"Kootumuchikal Amma / Kootumuchi" Temple.

The kootumuchi temple is located 23 km from Trichur in the village of Vellatanjoor. The templediety is a godess called the "Kootumuchikal Amma" considered to be the incarnation of Durga. The local people have atmost respect & fear for the "Kootumuchikal Amma" .

Daily Rituals

The daily rituals are conducted by the "Moothamana Namboodri" . The temple opens at 6 AM for morning Pooja and closes at 8 . Being a small temple . The poojas are simple and of short duration. In the evening the temple opens for pooja at 4:30 and extends to 7:00.

Festival

The annual festival "Pooram" at the temple is celebrated with high importance during the month of January -February. The festivities include elephant processions and the "Panchavadyam , Tayambajka" etc. Special Poojas are performed on this day.

Other festivals include the usual festivals like Onam & Vishu.

Offering

The best offerinf include the "Chuttuvllaku" ( Lighting of lamps around the temple) . This will cost you about Rs 500. Other offering include the "Bhagavthiseva" ( Making Payasam as offering to the Goddess)"'Other Usual Offerings"'Pushpanjali, Muutuerakal etc
