West Sussex Council election, 2009

Elections to West Sussex County Council are currently scheduled to take place on 7 May, 2009, but may be delayed until June in order to coincide with elections to the European Parliament. All 70 council seats will be contested across 62 electoral divisions.

In the previous election, held on May 5, 2005, the Conservative Party won 46 seats, the Liberal Democrats 17 and the Labour Party 7. The United Kingdom Independence Party, Green Party of England and Wales, British National Party and Official Monster Raving Loony Party also fielded candidates, but failed to win a seat.
