Jacques Morelenbaum (
Rio de Janeiro ,May 18 , 1954) is a brazilian instrumentalist, arranger, conductor, composer and music producer.Son of conductor Henrique Morelenbaum and professor of piano Sarah Morelenbaum. Brother of Lucia Morelenbaum, clarinettist of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, and Eduardo Morelenbaum, conductor, arranger and instrumentalist. He is married to the singer Paula Morelenbaum.
He started his musical career as part of group "A Barca do Sol", also attended the "Nova Banda" performed with
Antonio Carlos Jobim , acting in shows and recordings that led to the "Grammy " winners with theCD "Antonio Brasileiro". Featured as cellist, studied music inBrazil and later joined to "New England Conservatory of Music". He integrated the "Quarteto Jobim Morelenbaum" in 1995, along with Paula Morelenbaum, Paulo Jobim and Daniel Jobim with whom he toured several times toEurope , including presentation at the "Expo'98" held inLisbon , in addition to presentations at theUnited States and Brazil and a CD recording of "Quarteto Jobim Morelenbaum"."Nordeste Já" ("Northeast Already")

He wrote further, arrangements for records ofMarisa Monte andCarlinhos Brown and the acoustic disc ofTitãs , which amounted to 1,5 million copies sold.International partners

Madredeus , the Portuguese singerDulce Pontes , the Japanese groupGontiti , the Angolan composerPaulo Flores , the Scottish composerDavid Byrne and the Cape Verdean singerCesária Évora , among other works. Among his best known work is "Transparente", in partnership withMariza . At 2001, he participated as cellist of the recording of the DVD "All this time", bySting . At 2008, he produced and arranged the Mexican singerJulieta Venegas MTV Unplugged.Movies
At the movies,he appears in a participation alongside Caetano Veloso in "
Talk to Her " (Spanish: "Hable con ella"), byPedro Almodovar . He composed in partnership withAntonio Pinto the soundtrack to "Central Station" (Portuguese : "Central do Brasil") (which for this work received the "Prêmio Sharp" (Sharp Award), at the category "Best Soundtrack" for the cinema). Orfeu do Carnaval, Tieta do Agreste, andO Quatrilho are among others works. Besides these works, ruled the symphony orchestras ofBahia andBrasilia in some presentations.He launched in 2002 the CD "Casa", with Paula Morelenbaum and
Ryuichi Sakamoto , recorded in the home of Tom Jobim, author of all the songs on the disc. In 2003, he participated in jazz festivals atMontreux ,Vienna ,Lisbon ,Porto ,Rome , andMilan , among others, and at the United States, he launched the CD "A day in New York".
