- Alma gol lake
The lake is located around 60 kilometers north of Gonbad-e Qabus. It is a place where anglers go catfishing. Birds migrate to the lake in some part of the year. The population of catfish ("silurus glanis" L) in the lake has been decreased drastically because the villagers living near the lake cast net nearly throughout the year. The anglers are no longer interested in going fishing there because of the scarce population of the catfish and the carps. The biggest catfish caught in the lake was reported to be around 30 kg.The other lake of the region is Ala-Gol. the lakes might be changed into tourist attraction sites.Elderly people believe there used to be very big catfishes in the border river of Atrak. The river is a seasonal one. When a fllod occurs in the eastern regions, the river flows and the farmers use the water to irrigate watermelon fields. watermelon fields are generally rainfed, though.
