Support for telephony hardware
Druid has auto-detection and auto-configuration of zaptel telephony hardware. It includes drivers for the major manufacturers like [http://www.digium.com Digium] , [http://www.sangoma.com Sangoma] , [http://www.rhinoequipment.com Rhino Equipment] , [http://www.red-fone.com Redfone] and [http://www.xorcom.com/ Xorcom] . Most of these drivers are supported through the zaptel project or modified versions of it. Other drivers are supported by the mISDN project.
Auto-provisioning for IP phone
Druid was the first in the industry to have full auto-provisioning that does not require entering of mac addresses. History of the project
Druid was created in 2005 as an [http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+GUI Asterisk based GUI] and have since evolved into a full Asterisk based distribution for
Unified Communications . Druid is maintained by Voiceroute, a Open Source IP communications company based in Norwalk CT and Singapore. Druid was released public for first time in March 2008.From then until now the Druid Open Source Unified Communications distro has grown in popularity with over thousands of downloads and awards at OSCON 2008 and Linuxworld 2008
Druid SOAP API for UC and external application integration
Druid was is the first and only IP telephony distribution to have a proper SOAP API where developers can create third party Unified Communications applications for mobile phones, desktop etc. Druid SOAP API is also used to integrate with other applications like [http://www.zimbra.com Zimbra] , [http://www.sugarcrm.com SugarCRM] and Microsoft Exchange.
