Sportfive

The 2001 founded Hamburg sports rights marketing agency Sportfive belongs to the French media group Lagardere and markets, the television and marketing rights of more than 30 football clubs and more than 270 other athletes and sports clubs (mostly from the fields, handball, volleyball, boxing, rugby and rally sport).

The company was created in 2001 from a merger of sports marketers of RTL Group and Canal Plus and was taken over in November 2006 for 865 million euros from Lagardere. In 2006, Sportfive reported a turnover of approximately 500 million euros.

With the launch of its former IPTV channel on 1 October 2007, Sportfive entered the pay-tv business. By the satellite platform Entavio they provide access to different sports.

According to media reports the station will bid for the television rights of the German Football Bundesliga season 2009/2010. The Group already holds the television rights for the European Football Championship 2008.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sportfive Group since October 2007 Richard Worth, previously the marketing of the UEFA Champions League Team AG led. Chief Operating Officer (COO) is the former English professional football Trevor Birch.
