Military mistakes

Military mistakes are usually errors of judgement by military commanders, and more rarely an individual officer committed either through military incompetence, choice of the wrong military method, tactics, operational manoeuvre or strategy during combat operations, because of ignoring advice, overestimation of own military skills, or military capability of own forces, or imprudence despite lack of military intelligence about the enemy. Despite common belief, not all military defeats are the product of military mistakes because many factors contribute to the combat operations process and its execution that encompass the entire gamut of things military. Sometimes officers are accused of military mistakes as a matter of superiors seeing a scapegoat to blame for failed operations or a military defeat.
