Pattoe

Pattoe or Patoleo is a Goan dish made in the Goa state of India and is popular among natives of Goa. It is made of mainly Saffron leaves or banana leaves, and Jaggery. It is mainly prepared during the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary , especially by the Goan Catholics settled in Bombay.

Cooking Method

Ingredients
*1 Kg local rice
*2 coconuts
*400 gms jaggery
*1 tsp cardamom powder
*Salt to taste
*Saffron leaves

Preparation

A batter is made by grinding rice, grated coconut, jaggery, cardamom powder, and salt. This batter is smeared on the front side of each of the saffron leaves, which are folded and steamed.
