Located in the city's District 2, the school was founded in 1993, primarily to serve the Ho Chi Minh City expatriate community. It is a private, nonsectarian, coeducational, and multicultural day school. The medium of instruction is English. About 850 students age of 31 different nationalities ranging from two to 18 years attend the school. The largest numbers of students come from South Korea, Vietnam, the United States, Australia, and Japan. The teaching faculty are predominantly British, Australian, and American.

IB program

The school offers the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme for students in grades 6-10 and the IB Diploma Programme or certificates for students in grade 11-12. The IB Group 6 subjects offered by the school are Theatre, Visual Art, and Music.

City College Campus

The City College Campus is another division of the International School Ho Chi Minh City which is located in District 3 of Ho Chi Minh City. The school adopts a special bilingual teaching program designed for Vietnamese students.

chool renovation

The school is implementing renovation plans, with expected completion in 2010. The plan includes a library expansion, new building as well as facilities dedicated for special education.

The school has a swimming pool, two art rooms, two music rooms, a football (soccer) field, and a basketball court.
