SNCF Class X 4500

SNCF Class X 4500

The SNCF Class X 4500 diesel multiple units were built by ANF between 1963-1970. They are identical to Class X 4300 except for having a different engine. The class operates with trailer cars from either class XR 8300 or XR 8500 depending on seating demand. Most of the class has now been withdrawn and replaced by more modern diesel multiple units. The modernised sets are those that remain in service, around Lyon, Amiens and Laon. Many are kept at SNCF Le Mans Depot. Some now operate on preserved railways.
