Atlantic Airlines, Inc. originally began as Atlantic Pilot Service in November 1979 as a company that provided pilots to corporations that had company aircraft but did not operate their aircraft enough to justify the cost of employing full or part-time pilots. The company was based at the Tampa Air Center located on the Tampa International Airport. The company originally obtained their pilots from the major airlines whos Captains had reached the age 60 retirement rule, and retirement was mandatory per the Federal Aviation Requlations, but still wanted their hand in flying on a part-time basis. The company has always been operated under the name Atlantic Airlines, usually operated doing business as Atlantic Airlines since 1982. The current company was formed as Atlantic Airlines, Inc. on September 24, 2001. The only change to the company was the incorporation of the name Atlantic Airlines in the State of Florida. Atlantic Airlines filed for the registered trademark "Atlantic Airlines" with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on April 6, 1999, and was issued registered trademark status on February 6, 2001.
