Founded in 2004 by Stephan Schambach,[1] Demandware develops eCommerce software technology for online retailers with branches in France and Germany.[2] Known for their On-Demand Commerce platform, they are a customizable eCommerce merchant. Their products include merchandising tools, site control and catalog management. Included with their products are online instructor classes, on site classes, hands on training, and a 24/7 knowledge support base. There are two ways to deploy Demandware: Create and launch the website yourself, or use a Demandware partner to facilitate the launch.[3]
In July 2011, Demandware filed with the SEC to raise up to $100 million USD in an initial public offering.[4]

Demandware currently serves over 100 clients including Playmobil, Sanrio, Nine West, Jewelry Television, Sally Beauty Supply, Zabar's,[5] Bare Escentuals, House of Fraser, Compact Appliance, The Timberland Company, Dutch Gardens, and Gardener’s Supply Company. In 2006, Sanrio announced the launch of their new eCommerce site with Demandware.[6] Also in 2006, Bare Escentuals launched bareminerals.com with the Demandware platform.[6] Early in 2007, Demandware launched Playboy’s new eCommerce sites: shopthebunny.com and playboystore.com.[7] Also in 2007, Demandware launched 10 country sites for toy manufacturer Playmobil.[8] Later in 2007, Demandware launched Sally Beauty Supply’s new eCommerce site.[9] Most recently in 2008, PFSweb announced the launch of an end-to-end solution for Roots Canada Ltd. that features the Demandware eCommerce Platform and integration.[10]
Recognition
In May 2010, Panasonic selected Demandware to power European eCommerce Initiative.[11] Demandware was also positioned in Visionary Quadrant in Leading Industry Analyst Firm’s E-Commerce Magic Quadrant.[12]
In June 2010, Demandware was listed as one of the Lead411's Hottest Boston Companies.[13]
