Uri Rubin (
Hebrew : אורי רובין) aProfessor in the Department ofArabic andIslamic Studies at theTel-Aviv University inIsrael . His areas of research are early Islam, with special emphasis on Qur’an, Qur’an Exegesis (Tafsir ), and early Islamic tradition (Sira andHadith ).Prof. Rubin is the author of the books The Eye of the Beholder: The Life of Muhammad as Viewed by the Early Muslims: A Textual Analysis (Princeton, New Jersey: The Darwin Press, 1995);
