Pander Medal

Pander Medal

The Pander Medal is the highest award of the Pander society, the informal society of conodont scientists. The medal is awarded for an outstanding contribution to conodont palaeontology.

The procedure for award of a Pander Medal is that a nomination may be made by any member or members of the Pander society to the Chief Panderer, who consults a medal committee of international conodont workers (currently Willi Ziegler, Wang Cheng-Yuan and Godfrey Nowlan) who review the application independently. If the nomination receives the support of the committee, Walter Sweet organises the production of a medal for presentation at an appropriate occasion.
