Tim Hurst

Tim Hurst

Timothy Carroll Hurst (June 30, 1865 to June 4, 1915) was a manager in Major League Baseball in the 1898 season, with the St. Louis Browns. During his lone season as manager, he led the Browns to just 39 wins, with 111 loses in 154 games. After managing the Browns, Hurst became an Umpire in the National League, in 1891-97, 1900, and 1903. He then moved to the American League and stayed there from 1905 to 1909. Hurst was among the several umpires who were named to a Roll of Honor by the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946, at a time when no umpires had yet received full membership in the Hall. Hurst was born in Ashland, Pennsylvania and died in Minersville, Pennsylvania.
