- Directed-energy warfare
-
Directed-energy warfare at the turn of the 21st century is an intelligence operations offensive capability involving actions taken to destroy or damage equipment, facilities, and injure or kill personnel using directed-energy weapons, devices and counter-measures.[1] It applies largely to the hostile use or denial of the electromagnetic spectrum.
The most widespread directed-energy weaponry used by military, civilian and criminal use are the use of high powered laser beams to blind the pilots of manned aircraft, or ground-based police and military personnel. In some countries (Australia, ...) the possession and manufacturing ability of these weapons are illegal without registered permission.
