Ian Reddington (born 25 September 1957 in
Sheffield ) is an English actor.He was educated at
Frecheville Comprehensive on the outskirts of the city, Ian was a leading figure in the Meatwhistle youth project and also played in proto-punk outfit Musical Vomit alongside Glen Gregory who later went on to become lead singer with Heaven 17. Ian then went on to study at RADA (1976-1979) and joined the RSC on graduation. However, he became known for his portrayal of Richard "Tricky Dicky" Cole in "EastEnders ". As of 2007, he playsVernon Tomlin in theITV1 soap opera ,Coronation Street , a part he first played in 2005. On 26 April 2008 it was announced Ian Reddington was to be released from his contract on Corrie, and will be leaving in September. He made his final on screen appearance on the 22 September 2008.After a brief appearance in the 1986 movie "Highlander", he went on to appear in numerous television shows, including the "
Doctor Who " episode "The Greatest Show in the Galaxy ", "Inspector Morse ", "Cadfael ", "The Bill ", "Peak Practice ", "Jane Hall", "Holby City " and "Shameless".He also played the part of Joe's dad in the West End musical "Our House" between 2002 and 2003.
Reddington met his partner while on tour in Newcastle. She at the time ran a
