- Milvány
Milvány (Rumanian: "Miluani") is a village in
Szilágy county,Partium . In 2002 it had 112 inhabitants.Hungarian documents mention the village fisrt in 1320 as Miluad. From the 13th century the area was property of the Hungarian Zsombor clan. In the late 16th century
Sigismund Báthori , Prince of Transylvania donated it to the BaronsCseszneky . The village historically was part ofTransylvania within theKingdom of Hungary , and until 1876 belonged toDoboka county , then it was incorporated intoKolozs county . In 1920 the forced peacetreaty of Trianon gave it toRumania , but after theSecond Vienna Arbitration it was reannexed to Hungary. In 1944 ethnic Rumanian rebels of Milvány burnt up the Hungarian Reformed Church's Archive inHidalmás .Milvány is famous for its grain and sunflower production.
The
Orthodox Church was built in the 16th century and a new one in 1920. Milvány is the filia of theRoman Catholic Parish of Kide; traditionally its vicars wereFranciscans even until 1897. LocalUnitarians also belongs to Kide. Milvány was also a center ofGreek Catholic arch-deaconry.Famous residents:
