Ferdinand Chalandon (
Lyon ,February 10 ,1875 –October 31 ,1921 ,Lausanne ,Switzerland ) was a Frenchmedievalist andByzantinist .Chalandon’s work remains the most substantial study of the
Normans inItaly and though the details of what he wrote a hundred years ago have in places been modified, it remains the single most important work available to historians.Former member of the French School at Rome, Ferdinand Chalandon is a winner of the Grand Prix Gobert in 1909.
